How do you express childlike wonder in a puzzle-platformer?
|
Sorelle is a 3D, third-person puzzle-platformer game where you play as three sisters—Alessandra, Bella, and Capri—who use their magical abilities to save their seaside Sicilian town and the summer festival.
Explore the town and dynamically switch between each sister, using their unique magical powers to change and navigate the beautiful environment and complete quests. As the player completes each quest, they reveal the stories behind the sisters’ powers, their family, and the town festival. |
State of the Project
I joined the Sorelle team at the beginning of Pre-production as the Lead Designer, with the Design team growing from 3 people to 5 people by the start of Production. As a student capstone project, the challenge of Sorelle is managing three unique characters in a singleplayer experience that captures the feeling of exploring Sicily, specifically the city of Cefalù, and integrating this into a narrative of childlike wonder. We are constantly iterating to achieve this on a holistic level.
Our team was inspired by several prior art, most especially Ico (2001), Trine (2009), the Lego games series, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (2020), and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017). But most especially, it was also inspired by our director Gia's personal experiences living abroad in Cefalù.
The game is aiming for a target audience of Ages 10+ and playable on PC with gamepad and keyboard and mouse support.
