A Fire Made of Snowflakes
How can you express loss through fear of the cold?
|
A 3D third-person singleplayer thriller game, developed throughout Summer 2023 and ongoing.
A Fire Made of Snowflakes is a moody 3D 3rd-person Combat-Exploration-Thriller game about the fear of the cold. You play as a remorseful axe-wielding mercenary–the Warrior Milan–who goes on rescue missions in dark, blizzard-ridden ice caves. By earning enough gold, he’ll be able to buy back his best friend’s pawned engagement ring. The game is aiming for a target audience of Ages 17+ as a PC and XBox game. |
State of the Project
I created this project for personal level design and narrative-gameplay integration practice throughout Summer 2023. I wanted to make a project that had a completely opposite mood from Tear the Planks Down, a comedy game that I was working on at the time, as well as revise a project I attempted in early 2022.
Development is intermittently ongoing as an experimental project.

2022 Pico-8 Version
A Fire Made of Snowflakes was originally going to be a fully 2D side-scrolling action game made in the PICO-8 engine.
I decided to switch the game to a 3D engine to better support tech-intensive mechanics such as darkness and complex, sprawling cave levels. The PICO-8 version of the game and old Game Design Document can be found below: |
